The chill of winter cannot dampen the flow of kindness, as acts of compassion provide an extra layer of warmth and protection for stray animals. Recently, students from the Public Welfare Department of the MBA Association at Soochow University traveled to the Suzhou Small Animal Protection Association in Wanjing, Wujiang. They launched a public welfare campaign themed “Caring for Stray Animals, Delivering Warmth in Winter,” bringing tangible winter care to the shelter's cats and dogs through concrete actions. This initiative embodies their commitment to social responsibility and charitable principles.
With hearts full of compassion for small animals, the students arrived at the animal shelter and promptly handed over the prepared supplies in an orderly manner. Not only did they bring over a dozen bags of warm clothing, pet food, and other supplies, but more than 20 classmates who couldn't attend also participated by spontaneously donating clothing via express delivery. This allowed their kindness to transcend distance, converging into a warm current during the winter. These warm clothes will be used to create cozy little nests for the furry friends at the shelter, protecting them from the winter chill.
Guided by shelter staff, the students toured the living areas of the animals, gaining a close-up view of each stray cat and dog's living conditions. During the exchange, they listened attentively to detailed explanations about the shelter's current operations, rescue efforts, and practical needs. Staff explained that nearly all the cats and dogs at the shelter were rescued strays. After being taken in by social organizations, they were placed here. The shelter faces significant gaps in daily operational supplies, with cat food and dog food being the most critical shortages. While some supplies rely on donations from social volunteers, the rest must be purchased at the shelter's own expense. This persistent shortage of supplies has become a long-standing challenge for the shelter.
The foundation of business acumen lies in compassionate social responsibility. This charitable initiative not only brought Soochow University MBA students to the frontlines of rescuing stray animals but also allowed them to experience the transformative power of philanthropy through hands-on involvement. Guided by the principle that “no act of kindness is too small, and no act of compassion is insignificant,” the Philanthropy Department of the Soochow University MBA Association organized this effort. It stands as both an expression of care for stray animals and a vivid demonstration of how MBA students translate compassion into action, spreading warmth through tangible deeds.
