On April 18, the Qionglong Mountain cleanup and trash collection public welfare activity, organized by the Public Welfare Department of the Soochow University Federation, was held successfully. A group of Soochow University students, carrying their love for nature and their original intention to protect the environment, headed to this famous mountain in Gusu. With their own hands, they picked up trash and used their actions to care for the green mountains, writing a chapter of public welfare that belongs to Soochow University students amidst the spring mountains and fields.

As a natural oxygen bar within Suzhou, Qionglong Mountain is known for its lush peaks and dense forests, making it an excellent destination for countless citizens and tourists to enjoy spring outings and leisure. However, plastic bottles, food packaging, paper scraps, and other trash scattered throughout the mountains not only ruin the natural scenery but also impact the ecological environment. To protect these green waters and lush mountains and restore the true beauty of the forest, the Public Welfare Department of the Soochow University Federation carefully planned this cleanup activity, calling on students to step out of campus, get close to nature, become environmental volunteers, and practice green environmental concepts with practical actions.

On the day of the activity, volunteers arrived at the meeting point early. Under the coordination and arrangement of the Public Welfare Department staff, they orderly collected tools such as gloves, trash bags, and trash pickers. Before the activity began, the person in charge meticulously explained the activity flow, safety precautions, and knowledge of waste sorting, reminding everyone to pay attention to their own safety while picking up trash, and to perform preliminary waste sorting to improve the effectiveness of the environmental protection efforts.

Although the hike up the mountain was tiring, looking at the increasingly full trash bags in their hands and the cleaner forest, every volunteer’s face was filled with a sense of fulfillment and joy. While working, everyone also fully enjoyed the natural scenery of Qionglong Mountain, listening to the birds chirping in the woods and breathing the fresh air. They deeply realized the true meaning of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," and strengthened their determination to protect nature and practice environmental protection.

After hours of hard work, the volunteers collected multiple bags of household waste. The mountain trails and forest clearings that were once cluttered with trash returned to being clean and fresh. This cleanup action not only effectively improved the environmental hygiene of Qionglong Mountain but also deeply rooted environmental awareness in the hearts of every participant. With small but firm actions, the volunteers conveyed the concept of civilized tourism and caring for nature to passing tourists, encouraging more people to pay attention to environmental protection in the wild and practice a green lifestyle.

This Qionglong Mountain cleanup activity is not only a vivid practice of the Soochow University Federation Public Welfare Department’s commitment to its public welfare mission but also a powerful manifestation of the responsibility and dedication of Soochow University students.
